Anthrocon’s 18th year being held in Pittsburgh is in full swing, and on Wednesday the Mayor of Pittsburgh commemorated the occasion by proclaiming that day as “Anthrocon Day”. The convention started to be held in the city 20 years ago, in 2006, which was the catalyst for the celebration. Since then, Anthrocon has held its annual furry convention around June and July in the city, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 having been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Temperatures are rising, but so do the charity numbers. We also spotted the first ninja giraffe in the world, and our special guest is a long standing member of the furry community, an adorable plush fox that is mostly active behind the curtains! Aurapuffs!

Following the unfortunate passing of Tori "Tugrik" Amundson, the server FurryMUCK was running upon needed to be retired. I am very appreciative and grateful that Tugrik's friends and next-of-kin have been keeping the server up and available to this point.

Finally, we've migrated FurryMUCK to a new server. In doing so, we've made several key improvements, including using the most recent copy of the underlying server code (Fuzzball v7.2) as well as updated SSL libraries. DNS has been updated so people can still use the known hostname to connect:
muck.furrymuck.com, port 8888 for basic access
muck.furrymuck.com, port 8899 for secure access

This has also meant moving the webserver FurryMUCK maintains to have online information. That is also at https://muck.furrymuck.com.
Going forward, status updates about the MUCK will be posted on the new FM-status account.

Inside of Bunker Projects I Love Furry art exhibit -Photo by Kamen

As the city of Pittsburgh readied itself to welcome back Anthrocon, a small art gallery on Penn Avenue had viewers asking, “Why do they love furry?”

From June 5th to July 19th, nonprofit artist residency and gallery Bunker Projects hosted their second monumental furry art exhibition I LOVE FURRY. The gallery was created by Portland-based artist Tommy Bruce and involved asking furries in the fandom to submit photos, artwork, and stories about what they love about the community.

Bruce has been making art about the furry community and furry identity since 2010, and this is the second time his furry artwork has been featured in Bunker projects. Last year, he was featured among 60 other furry artists in an exhibit called “Room Party,” the first ever large-scale group exhibit of contemporary furry art. “Room Party” was featured at Bunker Projects last year from June 6th to July 20th, 2025, also meant to coincide with Anthrocon.

Across the world, furries celebrated Pride Month by marching with their local furry communities in pride parades. From Portland, Maine, to Seattle, Washington, furries showed up, donning their fursuits in the summer heat. Some tempted heatstroke wearing their full fursuit. With a fandom that had an explosion of growth during the Covid pandemic, more furries are participating now in local groups than ever before.

Most furries openly identify themselves as LGBTQ+ to an overwhelming degree, according to data from Furscience, an organization that does research in and on the furry fandom, with surveys including questions on sex and gender self-identification. One survey from earlier this year asked 869 furries online and at three conventions a slew of questions, including the self-identifications.

The results—not yet published but shared with Flayrah—show that 86.3% of furries are, in some form or another, LGBTQ+. In the survey, a mere 14.9% of respondents identified their sexuality as heterosexual, making them a minority in the fandom. Additionally, 73.2% and 9.6% of respondents identified as cisgender men and women, respectively. (The survey allowed for respondents to select multiple options, and participants could have reported, for example, to be both a trans man and a cis man.)

At the pride parades this year, even those who are allies participated. This is a list of them in which a furry organization participated in for June 2026, listed alphabetically by city. Organizers were asked about being in the parade, and their responses are included if they responded. Some organizations marched in two parades, and both are listed.
